    Belajar menganalisa:

    1. Pada Kata Add

    Jika kalian melihat contoh kata Add seperti yang kalian dengar di CD 2 dan kalian lihat di tabel diatas. Add memiliki phonetic symbol yang terdiri dari 2 suara. Konsonan dan Vokal. Oleh karena itu Jumlah suara yang diucapkan pun hanay ada dua. Konsonan, dan juga suara vocal.

    Meskiipun jumlah huruf per kata “Add’ ada 3, tetapi karena phonetic symbol di Oxford terdiri dari 1 = VC.

    V adalah Vocal,

    C adalah Consonant.

    1. Rain

    Rain memiliki jumlah huruf ada 4, tetapi berdasarkan Oxford Dictionary “Rain” terdiri dari 2 Consonant dan 1 Vocal.

    Nah samapai disni pasti kalian semakin paham kenapa rain dibaca “reIn” bukan “rain”. Dan Kenapa hanya ada 1 Vocal dan 2 Consonant. Karena semua itu adalah aturan dalam Kamus Oxford yang mempresentasikan bahwa “rain” dibaca ‘reIn”.

    Langsung saja ke no 5:

    Pada No. 5 kalian melihat kata “Special” mengapa dibacanya begitu aneh? Karena “special” terdirir dari phonetic symbol “s-p-e- ∫- ə-l” atau mudahnya seperti membaca “speshel”.

    Hal-hal inilah yang membuat pengucapan dalam bahasa Inggri itu menjadi berbeda dari apa yang tertulis.

    Is= To be

    A great loss= Kata Benda

    Yuk dikerjakan soal dibawah ini:

    Latihan 1; Identifikasikanlah unsur-unsur “Subjek”, “To be”, “PP”, dalam kalimat dibwah ini, lalu artikanlah kalimatnya:

    Pada CD 5 kita dituntut untuk mendengarkan lebih jelas tentang suara “r” yang jatuh setelah suara vocal dan pengucapannya pun tidak terdengar. Untuk lebih jelasnya lihat materi di bawah ini:

    1. Fur

    Pada kata “Fur” kita mendengar  “f  з:” yang terdengar seperti “fee..” menggunakan “e” seperti kata “kemana”. Jumlah suara yang keluar pun hanay 2 suara meskipun kata nya ada 3. Hal ini karena suara “r” pada orang beraksen british tidak membaca huruf “r”. Sedangkan jika kita melihat di TV, kebanyakan film barat terutama Hollywood menggunakan aksen American.

    1. Girl

    Masyarakat di Indonesia banyak yang kurang paham bahwa pengucapan pada kata girl yang biasa diucapkan itu salah.Kebanyakan orang awan mengucap kata girl seperti “g-r-e-l” padahal itu lebih terdengar seperti phonetic symbol “grill” yang berarti panggangan. Inilaha yang menyebabkab banyaknya miss conception sehingga dalam mengerjakan soallistening pada TOEFL sering salah. Ya, berawal dari kata yang salah diinterpretasikan.

    1. Spider

    Pernakah kalian menonton film “spider man”. Bagaimana kalian melafalkan kata spider? Apakah seperti ini:”spi-der”? bukan begitu. Benarkah itu? Jika dilihat dari phonetic symbol yang berlaku, ternyata salah. Hal ini merupakan bagian dari pronunciation. Ya pengucapan-pengucapan yang banyak salah membuat kebiasaan dari kebanyakan masyarakat di Indonesia salah dalam mengucapkan bahasa Inggris. Karena kata “spider”dilafalakan “s p Ai d ə”.
